AI Media Downloader finds downloadable images and videos on the page you choose to scan. It does not send your browsing data, scanned media, or download history to us.

Information the extension accesses

AI Media Downloader accesses a webpage only after you choose to scan it. To provide the media browser, it may read:

  • The active page's URL and domain.
  • Images, videos, media URLs, filenames, dimensions, formats, and related metadata exposed by that page.
  • Your extension settings, such as filters, sorting, layout, remembered website permissions, and default download folder.
  • The status of downloads you start through the extension.
What we do not access: browser cookies, passwords, authentication tokens, payment information, personal communications, or your complete browsing history.

How information is used

Information from the active page is used only to discover media, display previews, remove duplicates, apply your filters, organize results, and perform downloads you request.

Website access is requested for the specific site you scan. By default, that access is removed after scanning. You can choose Remember access for this site to retain access for that origin.

Storage and retention

Scan results are held temporarily in Chrome session storage so the results can remain available while the tab is open. They are cleared when that tab navigates or closes.

Preferences such as filters, sorting, layout, and your default folder may be stored with Chrome Sync. Raw media URLs are never placed in synchronized storage.

Downloads and the optional HLS helper

Images and direct videos are downloaded using Chrome's Downloads API. When you preview or download media, your browser contacts the website or content-delivery network that hosts it.

Public HLS .m3u8 streams can be downloaded through an optional macOS companion installed on your computer. For a download you approve, the extension gives the local companion the stream URL, page referrer, output folder, filename, and job identifier. The companion uses your locally installed yt-dlp and ffmpeg. It does not receive browser cookies or arbitrary shell commands.

Data sharing, tracking, and AI

We do not receive, collect, sell, rent, or share your browsing information, scanned media, media URLs, settings, or download history. The extension contains no advertising, analytics, or developer-controlled telemetry.

Media requests go only to the website or content-delivery network hosting the media as needed for a preview or download you request.

The current extension does not upload webpage content or media to a cloud AI service. If a future feature changes these practices, we will disclose the change before collection begins and update this policy.

Security

The extension uses Chrome's permission system, asks for site access only when needed, and does not execute remotely hosted extension code. Native-helper requests are strictly validated and limited to supported HLS download fields.

Your choices and control

  • Close or navigate the scanned tab to clear its session results.
  • Turn off remembered access in the extension or Chrome's extension settings.
  • Clear extension preferences through Chrome or by uninstalling the extension.
  • Choose exactly which detected files to preview or download.

Changes and contact

If our data practices change, this page will be updated with a new effective date, and material changes will be disclosed as required.
